Last Night the Rain Spoke to Me

Last night
the rain
spoke to me
slowly, saying,
what joy
to come falling
out of the brisk cloud,
to be happy again
in a new way
on the earth!

as it dropped,
smelling of iron,
and vanished
like a dream of the ocean

I AM NOT MY CHILDHOOD

I am not my childhood.
The child who for so long haunted me with self-doubt
and insecurities is no longer jailed by my past.
I celebrate my journey.
I hear your whispers dear God, and now know what I was
placed on this earth to do.
Thank you dear God for waking me up to who I am.
I am A writer, and I am reborn.
My childhood could never define who I am;
I am so much more than that.
When I look in the mirror, the reflection that I see
is not of child, but a grown woman thankful for what she
has become and grateful that she could inspire others
to do the same.
My secret is out and my truth is now,
I am not my childhood–I never was!
